Freedom with the Blacks and Slavery in Books
The other Side by Jacqueline Woodson illustrates the fact: when something is wrong in society changes are needed to be made. Here is a quote from the story: "My mama says I shouldn't go on the other side," I said. "My mama says the same thing. But she never said nothing 'bout sittin' on it." "Neither did mine," I said. This portrays how when society is unfair individuals can find smart ways to stand up. Like in freedom summer the character

"New year? Its only October!" Mrs.Johanson lied.

"Are you trying to get me killed?" he scolded.

Freidrich
The book Friedrich, by Hans Peter Richter, is a classic book about the Holocaust. The perspective is first person, the narrater is a Christian who's best friend and his family are Jews. A real point in history is when in 1941 the Jewish citizens of Germany had to wear stars. Another real event was in the second world war in 1942 the Germans were bombed by hundreds of bombers. The Schneiders are expected to be scared around the the nazis, for they are being tormented everyday.

Book Club
So far in our book club book, Tuck everlasting by Natalie Babbit, I have learnt a number of things about the characters. The man in the yellow suit is clearly a nuanced character because he acts like a nice old man infront pf the world, but with the Tucks he is equivalent to a criminal. I wonder what relation the man has with the Tucks. I infer that the Tucks did something him in a way. Since the Tucks are good people, I am guessing if they did something it was an accident. It is clear that the man in the yellow suit bought the wood to have possession of the spring water. He will probably sell it and make a fortune. The author communicates powerful symbolism. The man in the yellow suit told the policeman that the Tucks were criminals, so when the policeman looked at the direction of the Tucks there was darkness. The man in the yellow suit is making the Tucks look like not only bad people but criminals. In the future I have to pay attention to the man in the yellow suit.
